High Road Scholars and Plant Spirit Talk are coming together to provide a beautiful day trip for ages 10 and over. This year, on indigenous peoples day, Monday, October 12, we created a day of programming that honors the sage ways of our South American Folk Indigenous Teachers. Please welcome an opportunity to visit Los Templos de las Aguas. Here is what Francisca Santibaez, our beloved friend and owner of Plant Spirit Talk, shares about the experience:
“Templo de las Aguas was born from a deep reverence for the healing wisdom carried in water and plants, coupled with practices of South American Folk Medicine & Curanderismo- ancestral traditions that honor the body, heart, spirit, and Earth as one. This outdoor bathhouse is not a spa. It is a place of healing, transformation, and where plants help us remember what we have forgotten.
Surrounded by the Plant Spirit Talk medicinal gardens and anchored by the stillness of our kiva earth temple, every session here is an invitation to come back to yourself, your senses, to release what no longer belongs to you, and receive what has been waiting.
We welcome individuals and small groups who are ready to slow down and be held by something older and wiser than the pace of modern life.”
What Will the Day Offer?
Each youth will have their own time in the safe and private plant bath space
Each youth will have group time to create some lovely customized herbal creations for self care: lotions, salves, body scrubs, facial flower steams, to take home
Each youth will have time to enjoy and prepare a delicious lunch from the garden that will be deeply satisfying and filling
Each youth will have time to reflect through journaling and share their thoughts with the group if they wish.
This is a day for our youth to gather with their friends and learn about the plants which work in friendship to help them relax, give gratitude, eat with thanks, and create some beautiful herbal formulas from one of the most wise and kind hearted plant teachers. Francisca was one of Hanan’s formidable mentors!
